Divya Khossla clashes with Alia Bhatt over Jigra.
Divya Khossla has accused Alia Bhatt’s Jigra of manipulating box office revenue. In a new interview, she said Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics.
Divya Khossla once again called out Alia Bhatt about Jigra. The Savi actress had alleged that Alia and Karan Johar indulged in “fake ticket bookings” to tout Jigra’s box office collection. She also shared a photo of an empty theater hall where Jigra was performing to back up her claims. In a new interview, Bhushan Kumar’s wife said that Alia does not need to resort to such tactics as she is already popular and well established.
“Alia does not need to resort to such tactics; it is already well established. But true heroism is speaking out against wrongdoing. Let the public decide based on merit, not money and power,” Divya told Hindustan Times.
She also addressed allegations of manipulation of box office collections. “After Covid, small production houses closed their doors and only those with money survive. I saw an empty theater, but Jigra’s first figures were inflated. This requires serious correction. She claims that false figures are published for certain films. “We are creative people, we are not in a stock market, and by giving false box office figures, some media also highlight bad films. When good films work, no one talks about them. These are the people who decide which film will be declared a hit, as tickets are bought and fake collections are announced. And that’s why only those who have money will be able to survive here. New talent will never be able to get in,” she said.
For the unversed, Divya had claimed that Jigra’s team had posed a fake collection at the box office on the opening day. She shared a photo of an empty Citi Mall cinema in Mumbai and said, “I went to Citi Mall PVR for the Jigra show. The theater was totally empty…all theaters are empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. I wonder why the paid media remains silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra Х (sic).
The Alia Bhatt starrer was released on October 11. The film collected Rs 4.55 crore on its opening day. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, collected Rs 16.75 crore in its opening weekend.
