Cone Nebula: Located in the equatorial constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn, in the Orion Arm of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, the Cone Nebula is a column of glowing gas and dust located at a distance of approximately 2 700 light years from Earth.

Hourglass Nebula: MyCn18 is a young hourglass-shaped planetary nebula located approximately 8,000 light years from Earth. This stunning image was taken with the Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2) aboard NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.

The Ring Nebula: Messier 57, more commonly known as the Ring Nebula, is located approximately 2,000 light years away in the constellation Lyra and is best observed in August. It was discovered by the French astronomer Antoine Darquier de Pellepoix in 1779.

Spirograph Nebula: Shining like a multifaceted jewel, the planetary nebula IC 418 lies about 2,000 light years from Earth, in the direction of the Lepus constellation.

Horsehead Nebula: Resembling an apparition rising from the white ridges of interstellar moss, the iconic Horsehead Nebula has graced astronomy books since its discovery over a century ago. The nebula is a favorite target of amateur and professional astronomers.

Bubble Nebula: The Bubble Nebula is 7 light years across – about one and a half times the distance between our sun and its nearest stellar neighbor, Alpha Centauri – and resides 7,100 light years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia.

Crab Nebula: The Crab Nebula is an expanding remnant of a stellar supernova explosion. Japanese and Chinese astronomers recorded this violent event almost 1,000 years ago, in 1054 AD. The bright relic has expanded since the star exploded and now measures about 11 light years across.
